This history is less about King Henry IV, and more about the rivalry between King Henry's dissolute son, Prince Henry, and his nemesis, Henry Percy, nicknamed "Hotspur. Prince Hal is a carefree, reckless youth who spends his time carousing with a fat knight named Falstaff, and others of dubious character. While Hotspur is a model son and skilled warrior whose father is the powerful Earl of Northumberland. Although Hotspur's faction helped King Henry achieve his throne, they are now fuming over alleged broken promises. The stage is set for conflict.
