Henry IV, part one

by William Shakespeare

directed by Bruce De Les Dernier

The year is 1403, and the world of Medieval England is riven by a massive civil war. On one side is the Yorkists, led by the heroic Henry "Hotspur" Percy and the grim Lord Douglas of Scotland, and on the other, the Lancastrians led by the dynamic and stern King Henry IV. However, the spirited heir to the crown, Henry V ("Hal") is off carousing and thieving with the hilarious knave Falstaff! Prince Hal must choose to confront an imposing father, a savage war, and an epic destiny - or risks losing his throne forever

The play encompasses the entire scope of the period - from the antics of a low-brow Eastcheap tavern to the polish of the English Court - and on to one of the greatest battles in British history. This is one of Shakespeare's most popular history plays, which is a must-see prequel to the heroic play Henry V!
